THE CHALLENGE
We love a challenge here at New Wave Learning, especially one that develops our approach. So we were over the moon when Sarah Dena from law firm Royds Withy King agreed to partner with us on our MoveMe programme. Taking onboard their objectives and listening to their requirements, we put our innovative vision to the test.
We wanted to prove that our blended approach to learning increases engagement and retention. Our average feedback score was 5.8 out of 6 but we wanted to enhance the participants' experience in a more impactful way. The challenge? To exceed this incredibly successful “bomb proof” programme.
In order for our learning content to have maximum impact, we needed to adopt a different mindset to be able to:
THE SOLUTION
Fortunately, Sarah and her team had an understanding of the importance of investing in people development. They held skills of influence, persuasion, impact and presentation high on their agenda. As a client facing organisation, they needed to influence externally and internally to become trusted advisors in a highly competitive market.
However, as with most law firms, time away from the business meant revenue loss so they needed a solution that wouldn’t take them away from billable hours for too long. MoveMe would be the perfect solution to pilot with a cohort of associates, advisors and partners of a law firm.
THE RESULT
We started the MoveMe learning journey with an onboarding webinar to assess the development needs of each participant. From this we found that engagement was high and initial facilitator and peer feedback was landing effectively. The participants then embarked on a digital learning journey using our app to learn presenting and influencing skills. The aim being to create compelling content that sticks and to influence people through purpose and impact.
IT'S BROUGHT EVERYTHING TOGETHER FROM START TO FINISH, WE'VE DONE THE ENTIRE JOURNEY.
Two weeks later at the second of our interactive webinars, it was time for participants to demonstrate to us and the cohort how they use story, creative content and purpose to effectively move people to think, feel or do something.
There was a distinctive difference in development and capability. All participants were able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how to practically apply these all important skills. At the same time our technology was showing us valuable data about how the participants were navigating the content. We were also able to collect insights into how to approach the individual speed coaching sessions that were coming up.
We then used a variety of twenty minute speed coaching sessions and targeted feedback to set expectations for participants to perform well in a live face-to-face session. It was in these sessions that we saw the biggest amount of engagement and emotional investment in the development programme. By using the strategies we gave them for dealing with nerves, participants were able to perform at the top of their game. They delivered emotional and impactful examples of how to influence and present, or in short, move people.
IF THERE'S ONE THING I WILL REMEMBER IT'S THE TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM!
It was clear from our perspective, and from the feedback from all involved in the MoveMe programme, that there was increased transformation and behavioural change in the skills of influence, presentation and impactfulness.
We are ever so thankful to Sarah Dena and all the participants that took part in our pilot. We learnt so much about how to amend the programme and make it even better. It was a complete pleasure that Royds Withy King were our first early adopters that enabled us to bring this learning to life.
We look forward to introducing more businesses to this new way of learning and helping their people to develop, influence and present effectively by moving people.
